Hi guys we are now back and running again, page 89 is up. We've also got a small gag comic starting on Sunday which will run along side with Ripchords updates. Also the sites layout will be changing soon (hopefully by Sunday). Also about the situation with Samantha's job she's secured a transfer to a different branch and has moved onto the cash office... Time to work with Loads of Money !

About the unofficial hiatus

To start of with, sorry for the no update for nearly a month we have both been busy during the time when there has been no updates.
First of all Connor has been busy trying to find work (to keep the site running) along with doing some commission work for people who have contacted him. Not big work but enough to keep the site going which is a good thing. The good news is he has finally found some work, it may be part time for now but it's something to keep him going (this happened about two weeks ago now so he's settled in great).
As for myself with one of my jobs I am currently facing redundancy from work not the best of news, hence why I haven't been able to update because I've been looking for work now myself (got just over a month left until the place I work closes down). So that's what's been happening so far with our lives during the hiatus. As I've said before sorry for the no updates but we are looking to get back on track soon enough... (Where have I heard that before?).

Chapter 3 has finished with an nice animation to close it up. Well done Connor on working hard on the animation. Not sure as of yet if chapter 4 will start on Sunday as Connor has some commissions on at this time and he may be taking a short hiatus, so we'll keep you posted on that with either a tweet, facebook update or blogger update.
In other news we ended up having an airhocky match down the arcades in Mumbles in honour of Ripchord, it ended up close with a score of 6 - 7... Connor won the match.

As promised the updates continue as usual from today onwards, sorry for the lack of updates during the past week but myself and Samani were both really busy with our jobs that we couldn't find the time to update as usual, but it's all taken care for now and everything will be back to normal for now.
Seeing as how it's Sunday, it's time for a double Sunday! pages 71 and 72 are now up along with the "fanner" that Vicky made for last weeks update (added to the gallery), the about page has been edited as well with a bit more info about Ripchord and the character bio's section has been moved to it's own separate page... That's about it for today, don't forget we still accept the fanner's for the sites updates as well!

Triple update pages 68 69 & 70

Sorry for the lack of updates this week, we've both been working full time during the past week and this week as well. The chapter should be coming to a close by the end of the month! So for now there are 3 additional pages to view, also we are accepting fan banner's for the page updates just email either myself or Samani about it... More then likely to get a response quicker from myself as Samani is working two separate jobs at the moment. It's best to say that the updates will be moved to Monday for the time being.

Here's a little look into the first chapter remake as well with comparison shots of the original and the remake. Seeing as how there is going to be an action sequence happening there will be tri-weekly updates happening soon.

Usual stuff is up. We got some more music on the way (character themes) the remaking of the first chapter is coming along with a few pages done so far. As for the wallpaper it will be up within the week. Moving on let's do a recap on the artstyle and how it has changed so quickly within 3 months of the site being up.



As you can see we began with an anti-aliased style to sort of vaguely reference a sort of video game pixelly aesthetic and to also give us an unique look to other comics. I did about 20 pages of this and then we uploaded it to recieve feedback. The result wasn't really positive so I decided to shift into another style, plus it was looking a bit too similair to Vickybit's Side-Quest Story and we didn't want the wrong thoughts to arise from that. So at the 26th page mark, I went for an aliased pen from a vector pencil, got rid of the half tones and replaced them with a layered grayscale for smoothing and in the next couples of pages you can see the Backgrounds losing their line-art and softening into minimalistic shapes. Lazy? perhaps, But the overall feel is more focused and has a better degree of clarity. Then after I did the first flash animation I felt the need to continue improving. I now implement a Marker tool to sometimes give a more seamless grayscale and the Airbrush tool to give off glow and darkening to various lightings. If you wondering why the comic isn't in colour, It's because this is deliberate for a narrative ploy. Stay tuned to see where i'll be going with that. We hope you continue to read Ripchord and be an avid fan!

The new page is up. Nothing really new to report except a big thank you for the over 83,000 hits. Thank you everyone! As for the voting thing the current favourite character is Addi at the moment with Sama following behind then Lucy and Cinnamon at a tie at 3rd... No love for Wills or Crane for now. Don't forget you got until Sunday to vote then the new wallpaper will be up for the update.

Hey all page 49 is up, we're working on remaking the first chapter (page 1 to 26). There's a poll up on the main page based on the most popular character, whoever wins will have a new wallpaper based on them, so vote away. There is a new wallpaper in the download section as well. Finally, earlier today whilst browsing /co/ there was a section for recommended web comics to read and we got a few vote's so we are now a part of /co/ recommended list. Thanks guys!

Laptop situation

About the situation regarding my laptop, it is now fixed but with a penalty. The hard drive had crashed causing the system recovery, but luckily a friend of mine fixed it for me and installed windows 7 on it as well. The problem is the hard drive was completely wiped so I'll have to start over again with a fresh new OS on the laptop. Luckily it isn't hard to get the whole site from the server after I get filezila to download it all again.

Hey guys sorry for the delayed update, Sam's laptop is on the frits which resulted in no update on Sunday (all the site is stored on her laptop). The laptop hasn't been fixed yet, we are both working from my computer for now (makes sense really). Anyway here's page 47 and page 48. For the next update we'll be adding a character poll to see who's the favourite character so far, the poll will probably last for a week with the winning results having wallpaper's made of them for the download section.
As for the site I'm looking at adding changeable themes so you don't have to look at the same one over and over again. I'll probably base it on the different character's so far.

New updates

There have been a few new updates to the site such as three new pages to the comic, new character bio's added to the about section and also a new image in the gallery. With regards to page 45 for Chrome user's I've taken the Facebook Like button off (This caused the rectangled box across the flash animation) and that's it really for the updates. As for other news about the site, we are now affiliated with Blaster Nation, go check them out.
As for the animation update, there will be more in the future but don't expect them at the end of chapter's.

The updates will continue as usual on Wednesday, so for now please enjoy the new update as Koma is now more then likely in a coma. We'll also be featuring a sondtrack for ripchord in the near future.

No updates this week

Hey guys just a quick post to keep you all up to date on what's been happening. As mentioned before there is going to be an animation for the next update, Connor has currently got a week off work so he's been working on it vigorously. However last night it was nearly lost as Connor's computer just suddenly wouldn't work for him, luckily William was there to save the day (Ram was lose in the tower) and so his computer is up and running again. Hopefully the update will be up by Wednesday.
Anyway that's all for now on the issue.

Page 40 is up. Also during the week there were some changes made to the site which stopped the cropping on the page strips and also changes made to the navigation bar (which originally stopped you from clicking on certain links in the comic archive and gallery). So hopefully now the site is better to use and view for everyone. There is also a new image up in the gallery fanart section.

Cropping

There have been some feedback saying that the site's comic was cropped on the left hand side.

Well it's now been sorted (little change made to the margin and padding in the CSS). So it should now be crop free for everyone to view.

Update: The navigation bar has also been changed slightly, which means you can click on images in the gallery and the links for the first chapter. Good work and all in time before I actually go to work as well.

The new page is up and now some site statistics! We are nearing 10,000 page views in just 3 months (Thank you all), March was the busiest month contributing a majority of the page views (4,928). Also the most popular browser used for the site is firefox. May as well add the country which visits the most and that is United States (followed by U.K, Denmark, Canada and Netherlands (this is the top 5)).

Hey page 25 is now up and ready to view. Also there has been some minor updates to the site such as a new facebook like button been added and also we are included on the "thewebcomiclist". Currently ranking 1571 out of 17567 which is good for a start. We may even hit the top 100 if we keep at this :D so there we go people we are on our way.

Also two banners that can be used in forum sigs if you want to use them as well.

Chapter 2 launched

Hey all sorry for the late update (nearly an hour before midnight? that's bad). So yeah I've had a job transfer and have been working a lot more hours (mainly night's) so I didn't have much of a chance to do the updates till late this evening. Well at least it's done right?
In other news Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, simply awesome.
